The nature and purposes of Research

Primary Research

Primary research is research you gather yourself, for example surveys, questionnaires etc. 

For our 3MW we did research through a survey and as the documentary was about me, we had my experiences as primary research.

Secondary Research

Secondary research is research you find on the internet or through books and news. 

We used the internet for our 3MW project to find out the history and current state of Hip-Hop

Secondary Research is a little more helpful as it’s on a wider scale and can’t really be tricked or lies. 

Quantative Research/Qualitative Research

Quantative research is figures, box office etc. where numbers are involved, For example, 99,000 out of 100,000 people said they hated my music. Qualitative research are physical comments. So responses, feedback etc.
